DVD: Trauma

Ben (Colin Firth) wakes from a coma to find his wife has been killed in a car crash. When he starts to see visions of her, he has to question what’s real and what isn’t. This poor psychological thriller from director Marc Evans (My Little Eye) smacks of a TV movie, especially with the overuse of speeded up time-lapse photography.

At its best Trauma has a Jacob's Ladder feel to it and you wonder if Ben is really out of the coma or if he’s dead. By the time the old chestnut that we only use 10 per cent of our brains gets another airing – this is a myth, all you lazy scriptwriters out there! – you’ll wish you were the one in a coma.
